The curved display of Motorola’s next Edge flagship phone could be dropped.

Motorola may introduce a follow-up to its premium Edge phones in the near future, albeit without their hallmark feature. Motorola looks to have ditched the extremely curved “endless” display in favor of a 6.7-inch flat screen, according to OnLeaks and Pricebaba’s CAD-based renders of the basic Edge 20.

On the outside, it’d just be another phone, even if the 120Hz, 1080p panel made it feel unusually responsive.

You’d also receive a triple back camera system with a 108MP primary sensor, a 16MB secondary camera, and an 8MP tertiary sensor, according to reports (likely for telephoto and wide-angle shots). On the inside, the standard Edge 20 model would be a mid-tier tablet with a Snapdragon 778G processor, up to 8GB of RAM, a maximum of 256GB  storage, and a 4,000mAh battery.

There’s a chance the reported Edge 20 Pro will keep the curved screen, and the Snapdragon 870 will provide better performance. An Edge 20 Lite is also rumored to be in the works. However, if Motorola uses this design for the consumer Edge 20, it signifies a shift in strategy.

Rather than depending on an appealing (though rather impractical) design for the entire Edge range, it would concentrate on providing good value for money. It’s just a matter of whether the price is low enough to entice you away from competitors.
